Celebrating 100 Years of Groundbreaking VA Research

For a century, the VA Research program has been dedicated to improving the lives and well-being of Veterans and all Americans through pioneering biomedical research and discovery. Our storied history includes the groundbreaking accomplishments of three Nobel Laureates and seven Lasker Award recipients.

VA research has led to revolutionary advancements such as the first permanent cardiac pacemaker, the development of CT and MRI technology, the identification of the link between sun exposure and skin cancer, and the discovery that aspirin can significantly reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. The work of VA researchers hasn't just changed the field of medicine – it has touched the lives of billions of people around the world.

Join us as we celebrate a century of innovation with our "Century of Discovery" poster exhibition. This exhibition pays tribute to the origins, expert researchers, remarkable achievements, and far-reaching impacts of the VA Research program. You can explore these posters, which are currently on display at over 170 VA medical centers, clinics, and research facilities across the country.
