The Million Veteran Program (MVP) is the nation’s largest genomic biorepository of Veteran data and is one of the most diverse cohorts of any genetic research program in the world.
Thanks to the work and collaborations of 600+ researchers across 80+ projects, MVP data has led to new findings about conditions such as anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), heart disease, kidney disease, cancer, and more.
Visit the MVP Researcher Hub to learn more about our data, the diverse cohort of Veterans in MVP, our analytics and tools, as well as our researcher FAQs.
As of January 2023, there are over 80 ongoing projects with access to MVP data for genomic and epidemiological studies, with over 200 publications since 2018 in journals such as Nature, Cell and PLOS. The goal is that research findings from MVP data will someday help bring personalized medicine to the forefront of VA health care.
MVP genomic and phenotypic data are currently available to VA investigators and other approved partners, with plans for expanding to non-VA investigators in the future.
Data are available through a research merit review process with VA’s Office of Research and Development (ORD). Calls for proposals are announced periodically and are found under RFAs and Program Announcements. NOTE: This link is only accessible by VA researchers on the VA Intranet.
MVP requests research services make MVP data available through as many RFAs as possible. If you have questions, please contact your specific funding service.
