2025 VA Research Week Kickoff Event

The 2025 VA Research Week celebrated the 100th Anniversary of VA Research, which included a special live-streamed Research Week award presentation recognizing six significant investigators. The ceremony showcased VA’s efforts to provide Veterans with the best possible care and latest health science developments, leading into Research Week events at local VA facilities nationwide. The theme was  “100 Years of Research,” as we celebrated the VA researchers and staff who have contributed to some of the most significant medical breakthroughs in history, and all those who continue to add to that incredible legacy. The 2025 awardees were:

  • Dr. Jean Beckham, VA Durham Health Care System, NC
  • Dr. Robert Clark, South Texas Veterans Health Care System in San Antonio, TX
  • Dr. Daniel Hall, VA Pittsburgh Health Care System, PA
  • Dr. Robert Kirsch, Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, OH
  • Dr. Vincent Marconi, Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Medical Center, GA
  • Dr. Arlan Richardson, Oklahoma City VA Health Care System, OK

VA Research has been, and always will be, at the forefront of innovation. VA researchers make up innovative teams that have historically developed effective treatments for tuberculosis, invented the CAT scan and the pacemaker, and performed the first-ever liver transplant. VA’s research arm is instrumental in translating science into actionable solutions that improve health outcomes for Veterans and the American people.
