Soft Suicide-Prevention Door

Behavioral health units can often be dangerous places, with the door as a prime ligature anchor. The Soft Suicide-Prevention Door (SSPD) breaks away with just 20 pounds of pressure, and the soft foam core prevents its use as a weapon. The SSPD allows patients to maintain their privacy and can be retrofitted to any door up to 42 inches wide. The SSPD can also be customized with artwork to add interest and contribute to a healing environment.

The SSPD was developed by Lisa Garstad and Jackie Van Mark in the Sheridan VA and is non-exclusively licensed to Kennon Products.
