This year VA celebrates the 100th Anniversary of VA Research, including a special live-streamed Research Week award presentation recognizing six significant investigators, May 13, from 1-3 p.m. ET. The ceremony showcases VA’s efforts to provide Veterans with the best possible care and latest health science developments, leading into Research Week events at local VA facilities nationwide. This year’s theme is “100 Years of Research,” as we celebrate the VA researchers and staff who have contributed to some of the most significant medical breakthroughs in history, and all those who continue to add to that incredible legacy. This year’s awardees are:
VA Research has been, and always will be, at the forefront of innovation. VA researchers make up innovative teams that have historically developed effective treatments for tuberculosis, invented the CAT scan and the pacemaker, and performed the first-ever liver transplant. VA’s research arm is instrumental in translating science into actionable solutions that improve health outcomes for Veterans and the American people.
Planned resources and activities include a comprehensive toolkit for VA public affairs officers to use in promoting their own Research Week efforts, which you can find here with your VA login, with more Centennial Anniversary products planned for later in the year.
