The development of a neuroprotective/restorative therapy for Parkinson's disease (PD) would be a major therapeutic advance, particularly for our veterans. Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) has been the most potent trophic molecule to dopamine neurons affected in PD.
