DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant): Abstract Insulin resistance and the resultant glucose intolerance are central to the pathophysiology of acquired diabetes, common health issues among veterans. Insulin resistance is also a powerful independent risk factor and a common co-morbidity in cardiovascular diseases.
