 DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant): Rheumatoid arthritis results from a complex cascade of events that breaks immune tolerance and culminates in the destruction of synovial tissue. B lymphocytes (B cells) play a critical role n disease development, producing the autoantibodies that trigger this disease.
