Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an alarming public health concern and now considered the most common liver disease in the Western world. Patients with NAFLD may develop nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) of which many develop hepatic injury that may progress to cirrhosis.
