Osteoarthritis (OA) disproportionately affects veterans, resulting in more pain and functional limitations compared to the general population. No disease-modifying treatments exist for OA, and current pain medications (e.g., opioids and NSAIDs) have limited long-term efficacy and adverse side effects.
